You get the rod from Noel on your second night: cross the bridge right of your house, meet him on the sandy shore, and win his fishing contest for 250 coins. Fishing tips that pay off

The rare cave fish (Leftsee, Skullfin, Missing) share waters with your mining routes in the Cave of Echoes and Crystal Cave, so bring the rod when you go for ore. The Premium Fishing Rod upgrade costs 3 Gold Bars and 16,000 coins at the Howling Hammer — see all tool upgrade costs. Selling catches is solid early income; compare it against the best crops per day andthe other money methods.
